Fernando Torres has offers from eight teams ahead of next season, according to one of his representatives.
The former Liverpool striker, who is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid from AC Milan, is out of contract in the summer. He has previously spoken of his desire to prolong his spell at Atletico, but Marca reports that the Spanish capital club must secure his future before the end of this month as they will soon be subject to a UEFA sanction.
Jose Antonio Martin ‘Peton’, who is the managing director of the agency Bahia Internacional which represents Torres, says Atleti coach Diego Simeone should sit down with the Spaniard soon or face losing him.
Speaking to Cadena COPE, he said: “[Torres] has eight offers at this moment in time. Fernando and Simeone should sit down and speak about it. He has an offer that would see him [become] the best paid player in the world.
“Everything depends on what the club want. The feeling I have on this subject is that they need to solve it, not [Atletico CEO] Gil Marin nor [Atletico sporting director] Andrea Berta, but Simeone and Torres. They’re friends and he just needs to say ‘I’m counting on you, or I’m not counting on you’. It’s undeniable that the supporters want him to renew. [The offers are from] China and lots of places, different places around the world”
