Could Jorge Sampaoli be bound for an English Premier League club?
Jorge Sampaoli who was nominated for the 2015 Ballon d’Or Coach of the Year award alongside Guardiola and eventual winner Luis Enrique after guiding Chile to the Copa America title – has quit his job.
He has reached an agreement to end his deal with the country’s football association following weeks of festering tension after details of his work contract were exposed.
A statement said:
“As part of the deal, Jorge Sampaoli’s severance pay will be paid, including vacation days, salary for the month of January, and the awards owed to him for the last qualifying matches.
“For his part, the ex-coach signed an IOU and agreed to pay a fee to the ANFP… and agreed to renounce the totality of his bonuses for the 2015 Copa America tournament.”
