Smalling: United Fans Right To Be Frustrated

Manchester United are having a bad time scoring goals and the fans have shown their frustration, Smalling has sympathized with them.

Van Gaal might not understand, as he stated in a press conference yesterday, but Smalling understands why the fans want the boys to attack.

“The fans are right to show their frustration,” Smalling told MUTV. “We [the players] are just as frustrated.

“Everyone is down because it’s an opportunity missed. It’s so disappointing when you dominate a game. We’re in a good position in the league, but it could have been boosted.”

The recent goal drought has understandably led to fans becoming impatient, but Smalling feels that, with time, the goals will come.

“It’s not like we’re not creating the chances,” he added, “We could have easily had a few goals.

“If we keep creating chances, we’re confident sooner rather than later they’ll go in. When you dominate like we did [against West Ham], we should be taking the three points.”
