It is no secret that AS Monaco are an ambitious club often picking up some high profile washouts around Europe and some promising talent and they look set to do it again. The French club are looking to bring in Jose Mourinho as manager as they look to build a string challenge in France and Europe next season
Monaco have struggled this season and have been knocked out of the UEFA champions league and find themselves 19 points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1. It is no longer a secret that Leonardo Jardim could be fired by the end of the season or earlier. Monaco who have made a reputation of bringing in high profile players who are not wanted by the European heavyweights anymore but still have something to offer are set to take that trait on to managers now. With Mourinho fired from his most recent job at his beloved Chelsea following a terrible run which landed the club at 16th in the league table, Monaco are set to move in for the former Porto manager. Mourinho’s CV speaks volumes of the kind of manager he is with league titles across four European countries and two UEFA champions league winners’ medals, Monaco could really do no better than Mourinho. Monaco would be hoping that Mourinho’s personality can help attract better players to the club while also keeping the quality players they currently have, something Jardim is incapable of doing. The French side also believe that Mourinho can end PSG’s dominance of French football much like he did Manchester United’s at England.
One thing is certain; Jardim might not last longer at Monaco. However with Van Gaal and Benitez under pressure at Manchester United and Real Madrid respectively, Mourinho might have better options and the former Inter Milan manager will definitely take either of those.
