Nigeria qualifies for Rio 2016 Olympics
Nigeria’s Dream Team IV has automatically secured qualification to the football tournament of the Rio 2016 Olympics by qualifying for the finals of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
It is a great achievement for the team, whose preparations had been disrupted with the kidnapping of the mother of head coach, Samson Siasia.
Hosts Senegal had the opportunity to go ahead late in the first half with a penalty, but Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Emmanuel dived well to save the ball.
With just a few minutes to go to the end of the game, Senegal’s Thione was sent off handling the ball in the area, and Nigerian captain Ogehnekaro Etebo scored to send Nigeria into the final.
