Bayelsa Election: INEC Suspends Collation Of Results Indefinitely, Read Why

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the collation of results in the Bayelsa State governorship election, indefinitely.

The suspension of the collation was disclosed by INEC’s Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Zana Akpagu.

Akpagu, while making the announcement said the results from the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, which is located deep down in the riverine community, is still being awaited.

He said since he was not sure of when the result for the LGA would arrive, it was better to suspend the announcement and allow the stakeholders to take a stroll and do other things.

Meanwhile, candidate of the PDP in the election, Governor Seriake Dickson, has taken six out of the seven local government areas announced so far, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won only one.

Those released are Brass, Ekeremor, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Nembe, Ogbia, Sagbama and Yenagoa local government areas.
