Is your playlist still stocked with those artistes from past years in 2015? If yes, then you certainly must have been lacking behind in terms of GROWTH and EVOLVEMENT happening in the Nigerian Music Industry.
No worries though ’cause the 360NoBS music team (No…Bull Sh!t just good music) will help you catch-up.
2015, so far brought a lot of good music curators; so below we’ll be sharing 15 just “15” of them we know are best to replace your tired playlist (pardon the term “tired” but if you don’t have these acts on your playlist then it’s safe to say you have a weak playlist).
After parting ways with Eldee’s Trybe records, Aramide got signed to Baseline Music. February 4th 2015, she released her first official singles – Iwo Nikan and Odun TunTun as an artiste under Baseline imprint. Since then she hasn’t taken a step to chill from churning out good material.
Abuja based producer/photographer/Videographer and topping it all up, gifted rapper – Graimmy increased his fan base after the release of the single “Doin’ Good” in 2013. He recently released a mixtape dubbed “Momma’s Boy“; a material more like an audio-biography but aiming to motivate the listeners.
Tay’s debut mixtape – Passport was that kind of material that is rare in the Nigerian music Industry especially from a starter. His calm-sound type of music will make a burning heart stay unruffled.
- Adekunle Gold
After releasing Sade – a cover to One Direction’s Story of My Life, Adekunle Gold became the first RnB sensation to be signed Olamide’s YBNL Nation… This led to him being tagged as the YBNL toaster while other signed acts were referred to as Soldiers. Adekunle Gold has a new single titled Orente. A feel good-music… Good enough to make any playlist.
X3M Music signed songstress warmed the heart of her-ever yearning fans in 2014 with the release of the Oscar produced mid-tempo tune “Tiff”. She has since then grown from been just Simi to the “Super Singer Simi you need to listen to”; and in 2015 she’s left her fans to pick between Jamb Question (original version) and Jamb Question featuring Falz (the remix) or picking both of them.
“We eat in the morning but we don’t break-fast” – Gospel rap artist TnJ, is a stand out name in the South-South part of Nigeria as the saying goes “Charity begins at home”. His songs don’t sound gospel but a close listening to his lyrics will leave you wanting more of the TRUTH.
- Johnny Drille
After participating in the 2013 edition of MTN Project Fame, Johnny Drille took time out to carve a part for him and him alone. And to kick things off, he teased with a cover of Awww originally released by SMD singer, Di’Ja. Finally he released a single dubbed “Wait For Me”. This caused the internet to categorize his song alongside “Wish Me Well by Timi Dakolo” and “Pray For Me by Darey”.
- Timi Dakolo
Timi Dakolo’s Love and Consequences album is almost ready! Timi rarely puts out materials but whenever he does he sure has something to pass on to the world. Just incase you didn’t know, his recent single was tagged “The Hustlers Anthem”.
Aristokrat Records’ signed rapper Mojeed stole the heart of many when he released his Westernized West-African mixtape in 2014 which housed the widely accepted joint Jagaban but his growing fans were left with one question: Who Is Mojeed? Not leaving them 2015, he released the LeriQ produced track “ClockWork” off his soon to be released debut album which is said to be titled “Who Is Mojeed”. Your playlist just can’t be dull with Mojeed in it.
BlackMagic gained recognition in 2011 with the release of his debut album named after him. He can be defined as that Nigerian rapper who built his sound and capitalized on making good music. His recent materials are all sort of …classic!
They call him Rayce! This young man is one of the most hard-working artistes, yet underrated. He gained recognition after the release of the club banger Roll following up with Tested Ok. Rayce in 2014 divulged Tete La; an evergreen track which kept the internet thinking “what’s holding this dude from getting famous”.
- Yemi Alade
Arguably the hardest working Nigerian female artiste of the moment, Yemi Alade is known for her amazing voice and power to keep her fast growing fans glued to music. She’s been in the industry for years but gained more attention when she released Johnny. Her debut album “King of Queens” still sounds fresher than you can ever imagine.
Olanrewaju Ogunmefun popularly known as Vector but often referred to as Vector Tha Viper by his fans because of his style of rap. Vector released King Kong in 2015 which turned out to be one of the hardest hip-hop joints to be heard recently in Africa. Vector went In-To-Deep by following up with two remixes laced with entirely different verses. Dude got what it takes to be on the hottest playlist
Apart from having a beautiful face, Tonye Garrick is that singer that will leave you in trance with her genre of music. Her music is filled with everything GOOD MUSIC should have.
Tijani Fowosere is no doubt one of those artistes that 2015 welcomed with an open-heart. Tjan got people’s attention with the release of the well-accepted love tune he dubbed “I Love You So” but he didn’t stop until he increased his fan base with a tribute song for mothers he titled “Hey Mama”.
The above listed acts will do nothing but let you know how fast the music industry is producing good music.
