Manchester City after Lionel Messi
Manchester City are willing to do anything and everything to bring Lionel Messi to the Etihad Stadium, even if it requires them paying £800,000 per week in wages.
Messi is reportedly disgruntled with Barcelona, and the English side has already begun talks with his representatives over a potential deal, according to the UK Sun.
The source of Messi’s tiff with the La Liga champions is that they are not eager to renew his current £500,000-a-week contract, which is said to have upset him.
Manchester City officials are hopeful that the club’s new TV deal, which is worth £150 million per season, will be able to float the potential transfer.
City are also hopeful that Messi’s capture would make it easier for them to attract popular manager Josep Guardiola from Bayern Munich.
