Jimenez Relieved To End Goal Drought

Raul Jimenez has made known his joy at ending his goal drought with Benfica in the UCL, after they played out a 2-2 draw with Astana.

Jimenez got on the score sheet in both half, to cancel out goals from Twumasi and Anicic and keep Benfica top of the group with 10 points.

Jimenez has struggled for form since moving to Europe, with Atletico previously, but was positive he would get back the touch.

“I was eager to score but I was always calm and patient, knowing I could rely on my team-mates,” he told SporTV after the match.

“It was a good game for me but a difficult one for the team. We had to fight from start to finish, Astana showed why it’s not easy to play here.

“The goal before the break was important. There are some things to fix but we’ll continue to work.”
