The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has announced the date it will conduct election into the six area councils within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja to be on March, 19, 2016.

This was disclosed by Prof. Jacob Jatau, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the FCT, on Thursday in Abuja at the presentation of election time table for the poll.
Prof. Jatau urged residents who were transferred to the FCT to apply for the transfer of their Permanent Voter Cards, adding that the exercise was currently being undertaken in the secretariat of the area councils.
He said: “I will like to appeal to the political class and the electorate, especially the youths, to shun violence and obey the rules to guarantee free, fair and credible polls.
“We will be fair to all the parties and will provide a level playing field to ensure full participation and fair contest.”
The INEC’s Commissioner further said the date for the Continuous Voter Registration would be announced to enable residents who have clocked 18 years to register for the election.
According to the time-table, electoral activities would commence on November 26, while party primaries would hold from November 26 to December 17.
