Diego Godin believes Uruguay are not targeting revenge for the Copa America elimination when they meet Chile in the world cup qualifier.
Uruguay were the defending champions when they met Chile in the quarter final of the continental tournament, but a lone goal from Isla kicked them out of the tournament.
A confrontation with Jara, saw Cavani sent off, with coach Oscar Tabarez also seeing red. But Godin is certain revenge is not on Uruguay’s mind.
“I do not like to speak about revenge because that match was in a different situation,” Godin said.
“Now we are playing a qualifying round match, not a final or decisive match.
“We want to win in order to get the three points and to keep progressing towards Russia.
“Winning would allow us to finish the qualification phase of 2015 in a great position.”
