A lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Professor Solomon Ogunniyi has passed on.

Ogunniyi died in his office within the university on Thursday. He was aged 60.

Ogunniyi, who was a professor of obstetrics and gynecology, was provost of the school’s College of Medicine for four years between 2009 and 2013.

He was a member of many professional bodies both within and outside Nigeria and had published over 75 full length articles in local and international scientific journals.

According to reports, people were worried after they found out he hadn’t left his office in a long while, only to open his office to find his body slumped in his chair.
