The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has called on Nigerians to negate the Kogi governorship election results being bandied around on social media.

The Electoral Commission tweeted: “INEC wishes to state that results of Kogi gov election being posted on Social Media are inaccurate and should be disregarded #KogiDecides,”

In another tweet, it said, “Official results will subsequently be announced and the winner of the election declared by the INEC returning officer.”

Meanwhile, the stage is set for collation of results from the 21 local government areas at the INEC headquarters in Lokoja.The REC, Haliru Kpai, said no LGA had so far returned results.

Premium Times reported that the electoral body had, on Saturday night, shifted the collation exercise to Sunday morning, as results did not trickle in from the Local Government Areas yesterday.

At the moment, at least results from 14 LGAs have arrived Lokoja.

The collation Officers are already seated in the conference hall preparing to commence announcements of results.
