Senate Screens INEC Commissioners, Here Are Questions Thrown At Them

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday screened the new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu and five commissioners, whose names were submitted to the National Assembly by President, Mohammadu Buhari.

Here are the names of the new INEC Commissioners:

Mr. Soyebo Adedeji Solomon

Dr. Mohammed Mustapha

Dr. Mohammed Lecky

Amina Zakari

Dr. Antonia Taiye Okoosi

Alh. Baba Shettima Arfo

Here are several questions different Senators at the hallowed Chamber asked the INEC Commissioners during the screening exercise.

– Will you recommend LG elections to be conducted with the use of Card Reader like last elections?

– Who do you consider to be your role model among the INEC Nigeria commissioners past or present?

– Would you say there is room for further improvement in the technology of the Card Reader?

– If a particular unit is found wanting after elections, who should be held responsible?

– What is Electronic Voting all about and when can Nigeria start the Electronic Voting System?

– What do you intend to do regarding voting process in Borno despite insurgency?

– What is your take on Monitoring of Primary Elections in Nigeria?
