Recall, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, had on Thursday published the photos of the 100 wanted members of the Boko Haram sect.
A development that was largely welcomed and seen as a huge step to curbing the activities of the terror group that has hitherto been ravaging Northern Nigeria.
However, what seemed like a great move was reduced to mere cliché, as the British media house BBC (Africa) discovered an error in the Wanted list.
In the list, Abubakar Shekau, the notorious leader of the sect members was circled twice and the second photo was actually a screenshot from a Boko Haram propaganda video, which is an awkward situation given the previous claims that the terror leader had been killed.
The Nigerian Army is yet to comment on this.
