Manchester United were humiliated 3-0 by Arsenal on Sunday and that defeat exposed Manchester United’s defensive frailties, forcing the Old Trafford outfit to consider a move for another defender and Van Gaal’s men are set to move on Shkodran Mustafi.
Mustafi has been on the radar of Bayern Munich for a while but Valencia have been playing hardball and are unwilling to let the German defender leave after losing Otamnedi to Manchester City. Mustafi has a 37 million pound release clause and Manchester United who have become quite heavy spenders of late are set to match that in the January transfer window as they look to keep their challenge for the premier league title on course. Mustafi has been vocal about a possible move to a European heavyweight in coming years but it is rumored that he would prefer a move to Germany.
Manchester United have not performed really badly in defence this season save for the 3-0 loss but would do very well to bring in another good center back.
