This is right, no one can maintain such a streak. And former Bayern striker, Elber is certain Lewandowski cannot maintain his current goalscoring streak.
Lewandowski scored ten goals in his last three matches, including a remarkable five-goal haul in nine minutes against Wolfsburg.
Elber, who won four BuLi titles with Bayern, is certain Lewandowski cannot maintain the streak for a whole season.
“Everything came together [for Lewandowski]. It is a dream of every forward, to stand where he should stand. He deals with that, otherwise he would not achieve five goals against Wolfsburg,” the Brazilian told Goal.
“There are those phases that might last about two or three weeks, maybe a month. He can not keep this goal rate for an entire season. Nobody can achieve that. The days will come, in which he is no longer successful. Then it is important to just stay calm.”
“Lewandowski has learned how to be at Bayern and under Guardiola,” Elber continued.
“Sure Robert was already world-class in Dortmund, although everything was new for him last summer. The environment, his colleagues, the tactical system – now he knows, what it takes.
“He is active, not only restricted in the box and constantly finds opportunities. Bayern play even without any real number nine. That is the thing he needed to get use to it.
“Guardiola has certainly recognised what Lewandowski is capable of and what possibilities he offers. Of course, strikers are measured at goals but with Pep also the attitude counts.
“He wants to see that everyone works for the team and participates in the combinations. Lewandowski can do that. He can hold the ball, he is technically strong and very dangerous.”
