Corruption Charges: UK Frees Alison-Madueke On Bail

Following the spate of allegations of bribery and money laundering leveled against a former petroleum minister in Nigeria, Diezani Alison-Madueke, the United Kingdom National Crime Agency has on Friday granted that she be released on bail, as she was mandated to report at Charing Cross Police Station on Monday after her passport was confiscated.

MaduekeIt was learnt that the Seizure Organised Crime Agency within the National Crimes Agency of the UK arrested Alison-Madueke and are probing allegations connected with crimes of corruption and bribery that were leveled against her.

British officials in London as well as the British High Commission in Nigeria confirmed the arrests, but refused to disclose the identity of the arrested persons.

Similarly, operatives of Nigeria’s anti-graft agency the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were in a massive search of Alison-Madueke’s house in the capital Abuja on Friday.
