Manchester City were hit with the bad news that star forward, Sergio Aguero could be out for up to four months with an injury. While the club is disappointed to have lost Aguero, Ivorian forward, Wilfried Bony sees the silver lining in the cloud as he believes this is his chance to step up and fill the void left by the Argentine.
Before picking up his injury on International duty with Argentina, Aguero took his tally to six goals in eight games when he banged in five goals in twenty minutes against Newcastle United. Bony who has only managed two goals in 19 appearances since joining Manchester City from Swansea believes he can actually do as good as Aguero. Bony however admitted that his current barren run in front of goal is the worst of his career. “It’s never good when your team-mates are injured but that’s the way football goes sometimes,” Bony told the Manchester City’s official website. “I’ve had nothing but bad luck in the past year, but hopefully, that’s the end of it now. It’s not been the best time for me in that respect and has been very frustrating, but hopefully the City fans will now see the new Bony. The Ivorian seemed optimistic about his chances as he looks set to lead the line.
Manchester City currently sit top of the premier league table and will be locking horns with Bournemouth on Saturday as they look to stay ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United. If Bony can step up and deliver, Aguero’s injury could end up being a blessing to the former Swansea man
