Gerrard names best Liverpool game
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has named the match he considered his best eve performance in a Liverpool shirt.
While many would expect it to be the 2005 Champions League final win over AC Milan, the former Reds captain picked the 2006 FA Cup final win over West Ham as his best ever.
Gerrard scored twice in the game, including a stunning 90th-minute strike to send the match into extra time.
“Performance-wise, yeah I performed pretty well in the Champions League final but against West Ham in Cardiff it just all clicked,” Gerrard told the BBC.
“I scored a couple of goals and got an assist and my general play was on the money that day. It was one of the best days I had in a Liverpool shirt.”
On whether Liverpool could ever win a league title in the near future, Gerrard admitted it might be a while.
“It certainly looks a few years away, but things in football change really, really quickly,” Gerrard added.
“We’ll have to wait and see how the season pans out but I do think we will win it [one day].”
