310 dead in Hajj stampede
Officials in Saudi Arabia report that at least 310 pilgrims have lost their lives near the holy city of Mecca in a stampede.
The incident occurred as two million pilgrims were carrying out the Ramy al-Jamarat, the symbolic stoning of the devil.
Over 450 were said to be injured during the incident, which is one of the final rites of Hajj.
It is the second major incident that has occurred in this year’s Hajj, after over 100 people died after a crane collapsed in Mecca.
