Former Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado admits his return to Spain has surpassed his expectations after a nightmare spell in the Premier League.
Soldado moved to Villarreal in August after a frustrating two years at White Hart Lane, during which he never managed to reach the heights expected following a record £26m move from Valencia. He has scored twice in three games for the La Liga side.
“Coming back has surpassed all of my expectations – I couldn’t have imagined that it would be as good as it has been so far,” he told AS. “I was really keen to come back to Spain, and above all to a club which has everything it needs to do things well.”
