Di Maria and Cavani were in full throttle for PSG as the Paris club thrashed FC Nantes 4-1 in Stade de la Beaujoire as the Argentine continued to show Louis Van Gaal what he is missing.
It was a pretty dull first half but PSG looked the livelier of the two sides but some poor finishing did not allow Laurent Blac’s men take the lead and were shocked in the 11th minute when Bammou gave Nantes the lead. PSG looked for a way back but Nantes held firm in the first 45 minutes. Three minute into the second half, Ibrahimovic made it 1-1, knocking in Pastore’s cross from close range. PSG took control of the game from that point on and in the 73rd minute, Cavani who had just been brought on nodded Di Maria’s free kick into the net to put his side into the lead. In the 80th minute, Di Maria showed what he is all about, chipping the ball over the Nantes goalkeeper after receiving a lovely pass from Pastore. Aurier completed the scoring, half volleying Pastore’s cross into the net from close range.
PSG would be delighted with their showing tonight and Di Maria would be loving life at his new club. Next stop, the UEFA Champions league.
