Fluminense release Ronaldinho
Barely 2 months since he joined the club, Brazilian side Fluminense have released former World Best Player Ronaldinho.
Ronaldinho, who signed an 18-month contract with Fluminense in July, asked for the club to release him, and they agreed without delay.
The club maintained in a statement that the former Barcelona star was well-behaved during his time at the club, though reports claimed Ronaldinho’s constant party lifestyle lead to the breakdown in their relationships.
“Fluminense hereby announces the termination of the contract with the athlete Ronaldinho Gaucho, amicably and by mutual agreement,” the statement read.
“From the first contact with the directors, the athlete and his representative addressed the club with professionalism and respect,” the statement continued. “The same positive attitude was demonstrated in routine activities.
“Fluminense and Ronaldinho will maintain their ties and plan to work on other projects in the future.
“It should be noted that the deal met marketing expectations, increasing ticket sales, the number of shirts sold and commercial partners.
“The Ronaldinho deal also showed that Fluminense can arouse the interest of the greatest players in world football.
“Fluminense thanks Ronaldinho and wishes him good luck in the next stage of his journey.”
