Neymar’s parents deny tax evasion
The parents of Brazilian superstar Neymar have come to his defense after a judge accused him of tax evasion.
According to the judge, Neymar had evaded $16 million in taxes by declaring only 8% of his assets in 2013.
The judge froze $47.6 million of Neymar’s assets, claiming the forward omitted payments from Barcelona and from advertising.
All the assets frozen were in the name of Neymar, with some joint properties with his parents.
Neymar’s parents denied any wrong doing, claiming the judge didn’t correctly understand their son’s income.
“Neymar did not avoid paying taxes, and neither did any of our companies,” they said.
