Meet Martin Shkreli; Man Who Hiked HIV Drug by 5000%

share on:

Meet Martin Shkreli, the 32 year old founder and CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals.

Martin Shkreli purchased the rights to Daraprim – a drug which is touted as the cure to HIV – and hiked the price of the drug by 5000%. He purchased the rights for $55 Million and upped the price from $13.50 per tablet to $750 per tablet. And oh, the drug cost $1 to make.

His response? Martin Shkreli quoted Eminem’s Way I Am basically giving a middle finger to anyone that disagrees with his latest move.

And if you think that is bad enough, it is not. When a journalist asked Martin Shkreli for his side of the story, he responded by calling the journalist a moron.

Martin Shkreli does not care

When he is not being snide, Martin Shkreli explains that he upped the price so he could make a profit and put the money into research to make the drug better even though the medical community says the drug does not need improvement.
