Juventus have punished defender Martin Caceres with suspension, after the Uruguayan was involved in a drink-drive crash earlier today.
Caceres lost control of his Ferrari just after midnight and struck a traffic island, before driving into a bus stop and two parked cars.
Though his Ferrari was badly damaged, the defender escaped unhurt. Caceres was found to be driving above the alcohol limit and was fined €1000 and his car will be impounded for 180 days.
In addition, Juventus has fined and suspended the Uruguay international for breaching the club’s code of conduct.
“This behaviour by Martin Caceres in the night between September 28 and 29 is a serious violation of the commitments undertaken at Juventus, as well as being damaging for the image of our club,” read a Bianconeri statement released on Tuesday afternoon.
“Juventus, therefore, have applied the following disciplinary measures: a fine and temporary exclusion from playing for the first team.”
