Embattled Senate President of Nigeria, Dr. Bukola Saraki is currently on trial at the code of conduct tribunal for declaration of false assets while in office.
Following the Fifth Schedule of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), if found guilty, Saraki shall be faced with any or all of the listed below:
1. Removal from office.
2. Disqualification from holding any public office.
3. Forfeiture to the state any property acquired in abuse of office.
Recall, however, the tribunal chairman, Justice Danladi Umar before adjourning the case to October 21-23rd had ruled that the charges are criminal in nature. Therefore its possible criminal punishments be applied.
