Instagram adds portrait and landscape mode
One of the few annoying things about Instagram was that photos and videos always had to be square, but that’s changing now.
The square aspect ratio has been the photo-sharing site’s standard since day 1, but they have now decided to change.
With the app’s latest update, users will now be able to post photos in either potrait or landscape modes, whichever format they choose.
“Square format has been and always will be part of who we are,” the company wrote on its official blog. “That said, the visual story you’re trying to tell should always come first.”
Users previously used third-party apps to make such images fit into the Instagram square, but that will no longer be needed.
A new ‘format’ button has now been added, giving users the option to choose what kind of image they want to share
