West Bromwich Albion have rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspurs for their leading center forward, Saido Berahino as the club have stated that the player is not for sale.
Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly very interested in signing Berahino and adding the England under-21 international to his side and pair him up with Harry Kane but West Brom have been playing a hot and cold game with the forward, accepting a possible transfer today and then rejecting a bid tomorrow. This could all be a ploy to drive Berahino’s price up as that much was obvious in the statement made by West Brom Chairman, Jeremy Peace to reporters. “We have no interest in selling Saido which is what I have told Spurs chairman Daniel Levy,” said Albion chairman Jeremy Peace before going on to again admit a possible transfer.”I know we are living in an age where no club can say ‘never’ about the possibility of selling a player. However, the prospect of selling Saido is simply not on our agenda. Tottenham sent in a 15 million pound bid for the forward but West Brom are believed to be looking to earn at least 25 million pounds from the deal.
West Brom would not consider 25 million pounds as too steep a price for Berahino who banged in 20 goals last season. After all, they just saw Raheem Sterling who was largely inconsistent last season complete a transfer worth 49 million pounds from Liverpool to Manchester City
