Amidst rumors of an outrageous 140 million euro bid for Neymar by Manchester United, Barcelona club president, Josep Bartomeu has told the world that they [Barcelona] want Neymar to retire at the Camp Nou.

Bartomeu was quick to dismiss any possibility of Neymar signing for Manchester United when asked about the supposed bid by Manchester United. Manchester United had failed with a bid to sign Pedro with the Spaniard opting to go to Chelsea instead. Following a revelation that Ed Woodward slept in Catalonia the night Pedro completed his Chelsea move, rumors surfaced about Manchester United looking at the possibility of signing Neymar. The rumors have picked up pace since Pedro’s impressive Chelsea debut and news of a 140 million initial offer by Manchester United who refused to cough up 30 million euros for Pedro started permeating social media. Bartomeu has however killed those rumors with a few statements of Barcelona’s plan for Neymar’s future. “We do not want Neymar to leave,” the Blaugrana supremo told ‘Club Mitjanit’ on Radio Catalunya. “He is young and we want him to retire here at our club. We will discuss Neymar’s renewal in some months’ time as he must stay here – not only for the next three seasons, but for the next five or 10.”

Neymar has become an important player for Barcelona, forming part of a three man attack with Messi and Suarez that is arguably the best in the world right now.

However, let’s face it: Putting all the factors into consideration; current performance, squad strength and the treatment of Di Maria, who would want to leave Barcelona for Manchester United when they are getting first team football at Barcelona?
