Rafael has acknowledged that van gaal didn’t like him, but he’s not certain if it is as a result of the Dutchman’s aversion to Brazilians.
The defender was a crucial part in SAF’s squad and was called upon under Moyes, but fell down the pecking order under van gaal.
Van Gaal had a clash with Rivaldo when he managed Barcelona and while Rafael, who has now joined Lyon admits the Dutchman’s aversion to Brazilians, he isn’t certain that prompted his move.
“I don’t know, sincerely,” he told Globo Esporte when asked about Van Gaal’s dislike of Brazilian players. “I don’t know what to say about that because I was the only one [at United], since Anderson left before.
“I know this history that he doesn’t like Brazilians but I can’t say: ‘Oh, he doesn’t like Brazilians’. I know that he didn’t like me but, if that’s because I’m Brazilian, I don’t know.”
