Though Andrea Pirlo is getting old, he said he expected the call up to the Italy squad ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifiers match and hopes it’s not his last.
It has been expected that Pirlo will end his national career after the Euro 2016 and has remained a permanent fixture in his squad.
Pirlo will feature in Italy’s match against Malta and Bulgaria. And despite a poor start to life in America, the former juventus mam says he expected the call up.
“Earlier this week he had phoned me to warn me that I would be called up,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Against Malta and Bulgaria we have two important matches.
“I had hoped I would be included and I hope to have other opportunities. These are big games because we still have to play to qualify.”
