Javier Pastore has revealed that Di Maria told him he wanted to dump United for Paris Saint-Germain.
A move away from Old Trafford looks more plausible for the Argentine who endured a tough debut under LVG.
Blanc says the deal is nearer to a close, with LVG saying he can’t find the Argentine midfielder who joined united last year.
“I told him to join us,” Pastore told Le Parisien. “He also asked me many questions about the club, the city and the way of life for his family.
“He wants to come. He is a very great player. Plus, he alone can win important matches.”
Di Maria scored three goals and set up a further 10 in his 27 Premier League appearances for United last season.
