Nigerian Prostitutes Hold 2015 Election Amidst Violence

11 prostitutes, who were arrested within the metropolis of Minna, state capital of Niger, have been sentenced to various jail terms with option of fine.

Palpable pandemonium ensued after the 2015 election of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes (NANP) on Sunday, August 9.


According to Daily Post, violence broke out after former secretary of the association, Jessica Elvis was declared winner of the keenly contested election, which took place at a popular hangout, along Lasu-Iba road on Saturday.

It was learnt that the 2015 electoral committee chairman, Franca ‘Top Up’ Chikam, had announced Elvis as the winner, after she polled 300 votes to defeat the incumbent, Madam Felix Efoyo, who garnered 153 votes and also Nasarawa state coordinator, Tamar Tion who got 63 votes.

However, the incumbent rejected the outcome of the election. She claimed that the election was marred with irregularities. In the cause of the argument, a fight broke out and one person stabbed with a broken bottle.
