Lucas Leiva, remember him? The Liverpool midfield protégé who was widely tipped to take over from Steven Gerrard especially after the departure of Jonjo Shelvey. Well injuries have hit Lucas’ career real hard and the Brazilian (yes, Brazilian) is set for a loan move to Besiktas.
Besiktas, a club which is slowly becoming a dumping ground for the rejects of the premier league heavyweights have indicated interest in the services of Lucas Leiva who is no longer a regular at Liverpool following the arrival of James Milner to add to Emre Can and Captain, Jordan Henderson. Liverpool are believed to have agreed a deal which would see Lucas join Besiktas on a season long loan and give the Turkish club the first option to buy at the end of the season.
Lucas Leiva would be looking to getting back into a starting XI with a view to getting his career back on track just like Cleverley did with his move to Aston Villa and subsequent transfer to Everton.
