Liverpool are still looking to strengthen their midfield this season and they might need to with the impending departure of Lucas Leiva and Brendan Rodgers is set to move in for real Madrid’s Asier Illaramendi.
Illaramendi was set to be the next big thing at Real Madrid when he joined Real a few season’s ago but the midfielder has failed to hold down a starting spot with Modric, Kroos and even Sergio Ramos at some point beating him to first team positions. Illaramendi is still one of the most technical midfielders in the game and Rodgers recognizes that and is set to move in on the midfielder within the next few days. Illaramendi has been rumored to be willing to leave Real Madrid in favor of a move to a big side that would offer him more playing time. While Liverpool cannot offer the Spaniard first team football, the Anfield outfit can definitely offer him Europa League football and a first team place and this might just tempt the 25 year old away from the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid are reportedly set to be listen to offers for the midfielder but it is believed that Liverpool would have to pay up to 16 million Euros for the mid fielder’s services even though that fee would represent a loss on the investment Real Madrid made on the player.
