It was not a good day for New York FC when they visited the west coast as LA Galaxy handed them a 5-1 thrashing in their MLS clash.
Frank Lampard had to watch from the stands while long term frenemy, Steven Gerrard and co rendered Pirlo and his teammates helpless on the pitch. Lamaprd had only just returned to training from a calf problem. Zardes gave LA Galaxy the lead in the 36th minute, heading home Robbie Keane’s cross before Keane made it 2-0. Just after the break, Dos Santos popped up with a tidy finish to make it 3-0 for LA Galaxy who were looking on top of the entire game as Gerrard thought Pirlo the American midfield ropes before the Italian was substituted. Lletget made it 4-0 with a fierce shot from close range before Villa saved face for himself and his side with a goal from the penalty spot in the 80th minute. LA Galaxy however had the final say as Robbie Kean popped up in the 87th minute to prod the ball into the net and complete the humiliation for New York City
LA Galaxy remain top of the table in the western conference of the MLS while New York City fc remain second in the eastern conference and are now 5 points behind D.C. United
