Five Star Music sacks manager, Soso Soberekon over a promotional stunt where upcoming artist Skiibii was portrayed as dead to the media and general public.
The promotional stunt was a huge fail and attracted disgust, insults and disappointment from fans all over. Before now, the label has maintained that it was not a promotional stunt, even putting out a press release and photos of Skiibii undergoing treatment in a hospital. However, upon the arrival of the label’s lead act KCee into the country from a European tour, he confirmed that Soso Soberekon has been relieved of his position as general manager in the record label for misleading the public and faking the story.
According to Kcee, who was a guest on Cool FM earlier today:
‘I’m really very sad and annoyed and I blame my manager Soso Soberekon for this mess. As we speak now, he has been fired.’
Soso Soberekon made the death of Skiibii public by confirming to gossip blogger, Linda Ikeji, that indeed Skiibii suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away. He then went ahead to put a candle light picture on Instagram, which signifies that a loved one has passed on. And the condolence comments poured in with him trying to shut down the rumours till the hoax was discovered.
