The English FA has thrown out Chelsea FC’s appeal to have the red card givent to Thibaut Courtois rescinded as the decision was upheld by the disciplinary committee
Courtois was sent off in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Swansea City for a professional foul when he brought down Gomis in the box after the Frenchman took the ball around him and only had the net at his mercy. Jose and Chesea decided to appeal the decision claiming that there was not enough contact to bring Gomis down in the box. The FA however upheld the decision and would now mean that Chelsea would take on Manchester City at the Etihad without the Belgian shot stopper.
Chelsea would be forced to give a first premier league start to new signing, Asmir Begovic sooner than expected and in one of the biggest matches of the season
