This was not the Dortmund of last season and Marcel Schmelzer has said that the real Dortmund is back, following a second 4-0 win.
The Ruhr outfit finished the last campaign in seventh, but this season has been going well so far, as they recorded a consecutive 4-0 win. With Dortmund enjoying the best start to a season under Tuchel.
Schmelzer has pointed out their success so far, but maintains that Dortmund must continue in this breath if they’re to top Bayern.
“We don’t want to give away any points therefore it was really important that we played such focused football today,” the defender told reporters after the match. “I think this is very important.
“We have done really well. The true Dortmund is like how we played in Ingolstadt, last week against Borussia Monchengladbach and in the second half of the game against [Europa League qualifying opponents] Odd.
“We played a good game for the full 90 minutes against Ingolstadt. In the first half we let a lot of good chances get away which was something that bothered us during half time.
“After the break we completely sorted ourselves out. On the whole it was a really strong game from us.”
