The #BringBackOurGirls group has on Friday commenced a Global Week of Action to honour the 500 days of the abduction of over 219 school girls in Chibok by Boko Haram sects. Daily Trust report.
The conveners of the group, Oby Ezekwesili and Hadiza Bala Usman, in a statement yesterday, divulged that the week-long activities are aimed at reminding the world that the Chibok school girls are still in captivity and also to pressurize government to hasten the rescue of the girls and bring them back alive.
The events started with a prayer session led by the Chief Imam of Apo mosque, Imam Nura Khalid, held yesterday all at the Unity fountain in Abuja.
Other activities including tree planting in honour of the girls, Meeting with Chief of Defense Staff, Meeting with National Human Rights Commission (NHCR), and peaceful March by Chibok Ambassadors as well as candle light procession will be held.
