The President of Ekklisiyar Yan’uwa – A Nigeria, EYN – (Church of the Brethren in Nigeria), Rev. Samuel Dali, has revealed that at least 8,000 of his members have been killed by the Boko Haram terrorists in the Northern Nigeria, adding that 176 of the girls kidnapped in Chibok were his members.
According to Daily Post, the cleric, who expressed hope that the war against Boko Haram would be won, said aside the massacre of his church members, 70% of church facilities in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States were destroyed in series of attacks championed by the insurgents.
Speaking with pressmen in Jos, capital of Plateau state, the cleric lamented that most of the church’s pastors had lost their jobs as their places of worship had been burnt and members killed.
“Nigeria will overcome the Boko Haram challenge soon. 70% of our churches have been destroyed in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states by Boko Haram; over 8,000 of our members were killed. 176 of the girls kidnapped in Chibok are our members,” he said.
