John Mikel Obi is a genuine fringe player in Chelsea and Besiktas who have failed in a bid to sign the midfielder have returned to make another offer for the Nigerian.
According to a Turkish newspaper, Besiktas are set to offer Chelsea 5 million euros for the services of Mikel who is yet to play a match for Chelsea this season, sitting on the bench for the two league games and the community shield clash against Arsenal. Since the arrival of Matic and Fabregas, Mikel has dropped lower in the pecking order as the Nigerian now plays behind Ramires and Zouma and is in danger of even falling further back if Loftus-Cheek can break into the team. Besiktas are reportedly set to offer Mikel Obi first team football but a substantial pay cut if he decides to make the move.
No official bid has been made for Mikel Obi but the structure of the deal could be beneficial to every party involved, including the Super Eagles who have suffered from Mikel’s lack of game time.
