Here are Nollywood beautiful divas that rocked the 90s and 80s that you probably might have forgotten about.

Well, we do wish to see them in the limelight again.


Regina Askia

Regina Askia is a Nigerian Born American registered nurse who starred in several Nollywood movies in the the 1990s and early 2000s, reaching a wide audience in Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa such as Tanzania and Ghana. She became one of Nigeria’s biggest acting celebrities. Askia-Williams’ films, and other Nollywood films were regularly broadcast by Nigerian television networks, including ITV, StarTV, and the state broadcaster TVT. She was being compared to Elizabeth Taylor for her fame. Her acting break came around 1993 and she currently lives in America with her family. Some of her works that we would like you to watch again are; Full moon, Dangerous Babe, Queen of the night and Most Wanted. 

Liz Benson

Liz Benson started acting when she was a kid, Her journey to stardom began when she appeared on the set of the popular television soap opera, Fortunes in 1993. Liz Benson played the part of Mrs. Agnes Johnson in the soap, which ran for about two years on the Nigerian Television Authority network. In 1994, her role in Glamour Girls, a very successful home video film that focused on the theme of prostitution, literally changed her fortune after Fortunes. The movie shot her into prominence and gradually she warmed her way into the minds of millions of Nigerian movie fans. Surprisingly, just when her rating as a leading actress had begun to rise even higher than expected, Benson suddenly quit acting in 1996. She recently starred in Mummy Dearest; but we will love to see more of her. 

Sandra Achums

In the early days of Nollywood before Genevieve, Ini Edo and the rest was Sandra Achums. She used to be on the cover of most Nollywood movies. This “Searching For Love” star that was once described, as the darling of movie-buffs is nowhere to be found in today’s Nollywood. You need to re-watch some of her works like; Domitila, Against the world, Ashanti, Outkast and Blue sea.

Hilda Dokunbo

Hilda Dokunbo was popular due to the roles she played in End Of The World and Black Maria, My goodwill, unfaithful and 21 days with Christ. She started acting professionally in 1991 and was nicknamed Bakassi then. This elegant Nollywood diva has no doubt contributed immensely to the growth of the movie industry via her various brilliant performances played in movies. She coordinates a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) in Rivers State, which is targeted towards helping the youth of the state.

Shan George

Shan George used to be a popular actress, prolific writer and producer with hit movies like Made in Heaven, Outcast, General’s wife, Wrong Number, my sweat and London Forever. Shan has proven with no doubt that she is a complete actress, one with a rare quality to interpret any role. She was known as the most daring actress in the movie industry. Shan was introduced to the movie world by her friend and still close associate Blessing Eremi in 1997.
