In a shocking and heartbreaking incident in India, a 17-yr-old teenager set a two-year-old girl on fire just because the little girl’s mother insulted her after accusing her of stealing earrings.
The two year old died while in treatment on Friday night. A report has been lodged against the teenager and her father who carried out the attack with her.
“The girl and her father were both insulted by the parents of the victim. The father-daughter duo set the two-year-old on fire in their bid to take revenge. The accused is a class XII student and around 17 years of age,” said Mainpuri superintendent of police Udayshankar Jaiswal.
The child struggled for life in a hospital for 8 days and then died. The wicked act was carried out outside her Bhojpura residence on July 23. The accused found her playing alone, and then called her father, who assisted her in pouring kerosene on the kid who had already started running inside her house. They now proceeded to set her ablaze and played loud music to drown her cries for help.
It was neighbours who heard her cry and ran out of their homes that poured water on her. Subsequently, the girl’s parents rushed her to a hospital where doctors told them that she had 60% burn injuries.
She died on Friday after being taken to Saifai medical college.
The victim’s mother explained to the police that her gold earrings were stolen from her house around two months ago. She had blamed the accused for stealing her jewellery because she was the only person who entered her house that day.
Both murderers, teenager and father, have absconded.
