With the arrival of Petr Cech, Wojciech Szczesny’s position as first choice goalkeeper at Arsenal which already hung in the balance and as Roma missed out on Casillas, they have turned to the Polish goalkeeper.
AS Roma are unwilling to buy the goalkeeper out immediately and have opted to take him on loan for a season with an option to buy at the end of the season. Szczesny would be jumping at an opportunity to play consistent first team football and Roma con offer him that. Arsene Wenger has all but confirmed the deal as he is quoted saying “He could go on loan to Roma. We are pretty much done, it is down to paper work but as long as that is not over the line anything can happen,” ahead of the Emirates Cup.
Wenger however stated that Szczesny is in his long term plans and at 25, the Pole still has a lot of shot stopping years ahead of him
