President Muhammad Buhari has eulogised Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka as he celebrated his 20th year as a priest.
Ejike, who is the spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, was popular during the run-in to the 2015 elections, when he criticized the immediate past government of Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement through the presidential media aide, Shehu Garba, Buhari praised Mbaka’s boldness in fighting for good governance.
“Mbaka is a great priest who is not afraid to speak truth, even at the cost of his own life or being hated by those in power. He rose to the occasion to add his voice in support of good governance and identify with ordinary Nigerians in the face of despair and uncertain future,” the statement read.
“Though honest opinions attract hostility from leaders detached from reality, history would be kind to Father Mbaka for courageously speaking truth to power, even at great risks.”
