Carlos Tevez was welcomed home by over 40,000 fans as the striker rejoined boyhood his club Boca Juniors.
He was also given the same No 10 shirt
Tevez while speaking at the La Bombonera Stadium said
“Boca is unique, nobody can understand the feeling that one can have for Boca,”
“There’s no better day than this one. This is my home from start to finish. I’m in top condition physically as well as mentally.”
The 32-year-old arrives in Argentina after a season during which he scored 29 goals in Turin, earning a second Serie A title and a runners-up spot in the Champions League.
Maradona greeted Tevez’s return to Boca from his private box at the stadium with a banner which read: “Thank you for returning Carlitos, Maradona.”
“The fans should thank Tevez,”. “Atletico Madrid put a cheque in his hands and he replied ‘I want to return to Buenos Aires’.”
