Newcastle were way below par last season and it seems they want to be better next campaign. Newcastle have officially announced the signing of Netherlands international, Georgino Wijnaldum from PSV.
The deal is believed to have cost the magpies £13 million and the midfielder have signed a contract that will keep him at St. James Park for five years.
Newcastle boss Steve McClaren confirmed on Thursday that the club were closing in on the 24-year-old, and the deal has now been confirmed by the club, with Wijnaldum signing a five-year deal.
“I’m delighted to be a Newcastle United player,” he told the club’s official website.
“I felt the time was right for me to move and the Club have shown they really want me, so I’m very happy to be here.
“There’s a few players here who are from Holland – I know them well and they will help me feel at home in Newcastle.
“I know the club has a great stadium with great fans. I want to play here as soon as possible – I want to feel the atmosphere and hear the crowd. I cannot wait to get started.”
Wijnaldum made 44 appearances in all competitions in 2014-15, scoring 18 goals.
